Brady Fill Us In on Working on This Brand New, Fun Show!

By: Danae Samms

Middle School is known for being a rough time for everyone. The work gets harder and social cliques do not make life easier for anyone. In Nick's new show 100 Things to do Before High School, friends who are attempting to get through middle school follow a list of ideas that helps them find their way.

We recently chatted with Brady Reiter who plays "Mindy Minus," on this fun new show. She gave us the lowdown on her character.

"Mindy is definitely a mean girl," Reiter explained. "She's very popular, and she's the queen bee of the school and she knows it! She's trying to be the ruler of the school, but she definitely does have a little bit of a soft side that we see more throughout the show."

As a nice person, Reiter had to find something in common with Mindy to play her as a mean girl. One part of the character she enjoys are the outfits she gets to wear.

"I think you have to find things that are in common with you and the character," Reiter reasons. "Even if it is the complete opposite from yourself. For Mindy that was very easy, even though she's mean and I'm not, we're both very fashionable. I love the way she dresses, I love her outfits... we have that in common and I think I draw from that."

Working closely on the set, Reiter gets to know her fellow cast mates rather well. On the show they all do school work together with the same teacher. They also spend free time playing games and hanging out.

"We always have so much fun on set," Reiter said. "It's like a party every day. We're all like a family. It's different every day, some days we play board games. Some days we'll actually play 'Apples to Apples,' sometimes we play 'Heads Up' on our phones. We always find something different, something awesome to do."

It took a bit of time for Reiter to get to the part of Mindy.

"I loved the script," Reiter said. "It reminded me of 'Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide.' I actually went on tape for it, because I was living in Florida at the time. So I taped my audition and sent it out, and then I flew out for a call back. They said they loved me, but for a different role. So then I said, 'Oh it's probably going to be Mindy Minus.' Because I had already seen the script, I knew there was a role named 'Mindy,' and I knew I wanted to play her. I thought it would be awesome to play her. And then, believe it or not, a couple weeks later I got the audition for 'Mindy,' and I was so excited. And then I went back to Florida for a few weeks and I didn't hear anything for a long time. This was one I just really loved and I really wanted to play, and I thought I just didn't get it and I was really upset. Then one day I got the call that we had booked it and I was so excited."

Reiter began acting when she was young by doing mostly commercials. At first, she didn't think it would be a career, but she quickly fell in love with the craft.

"I did my first commercial when I was five years old and I loved it. It was like a kid who plays a sport; I knew what I wanted to do. I did a Disney World commercial when I was five, then I did another Disney World commercial when I was six, in Florida. I did a lot of commercials when I was little."

When she's not busy with working on the show, Reiter keeps up with her hobbies. She knows that school is important, and keeps up with her work. Reading is also something she loves to do, and The Fault in our Stars By John Green is her favorite book.

A lot of fun things are coming for the show Reiter explained how excited she was for the upcoming episodes, as well as how much she loves working with Nickelodeon.

"It's wonderful to be a part of the Nickelodeon family," Reiter said. "The cast of the show is so great, and the casts of the other shows are great. I have a lot of friends who are on other shows on Nickelodeon. Everyone is so sweet and welcoming."

Be sure to watch as Brady brings mean girl "Mindy Minus" to life on "100 Things to Do Before High School." The show is airing every Saturday at 8:00PM on Nickelodeon.
