Tips for the Loyal Fans Attending CMA Music Fest 2009
Country Music fans will begin the countdown for the 2010 CMA Music Fest, the day they get home from this year's event. Though it's darn near impossible not to have a great time attending the event with country's biggest and best artists and their awesome fans, there are a few things that can put a damper on your good time such as rain, sunburn and missing an once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity. Here are some tips on how to avoid things we have learned the hard way.
1) Bring a lot of sunscreen! A lot of the activities take place outdoors and you should always have your sunscreen on. A bad sunburn will make you feel miserable the rest of the trip and ruin your good time. Don't forget the sunscreen for your lips too! Often overlooked, you could end up looking like you got a bad botox injection when sunburn causes your lips to swell. There is nothing attractive or comfortable about that!
2) Plan to drink A LOT of water. Going along with the heat/sunscreen thing... you don't know how fast your body can get dehydrated, especially if you are planning to enjoy the music at the River Stages for long periods of time and you're getting your groove on there. Be sure to budget to buy plenty of water and try to drink more when you get back to your hotel at night.
3) Wear comfortable shoes! You probably don't realize how much you are going to walk that week. From the parking lot to the event and back again, the photo line at the River Stages and LP Field, it all adds up! Though walking is good for you, it's going to be killer on your feet, legs and ankles if you are doing it all it your 7 inch stilettos. You might be lookin' good and turnin' heads but what good does that do you if you have to spend the next three days with your feet propped up and iced?
4) A.K.C.R - Always Keep Cameras Ready! You know that you are going to have a celebrity sighting at the Convention Center and at the concerts, but did you know that you were going to see Trace Adkins pumping gas while you were filling up the tank in your rental car? You should always have easy access to your camera in case at opportunity presents itself. You don't want to keep anyone waiting while you open the trunk, take out the souvenirs and food that you put on top of your backpack and dig through everything until you find your camera.
5) Speaking of running into celebrities at the gas station, restaurants, grocery store etc., and this even applies when you are going through the autograph lines at the convention center, try to remain calm and be respectful of the artist. If they are eating with their families, try to wait until they are exiting the restaurant to ask for a picture or an autograph. Say, "Excuse me," introduce yourself, and ask if they have a minute to pose for a photo. Trust us when we tell you that it will be a much more memorable experience for both you and the artist if you aren't screaming at the top of your lungs, "Oh My GOSH! I LOVE YOU!" over and over again. This only draws attention to the artist who might want to be low-key that day and puts them on guard like they might need security or something. What would you do if a stranger came running up to you, screaming in your face and taking pictures? You would hopefully run for the hills! Make your Mama proud and use your manners and chances are the celebrity would be happy to oblige your request.
6) And speaking of cameras... be sure to have plenty of extra batteries on hand, memory cards, anything your camera needs to operate, have two or three of. It is the worst thing ever to be the next person in line after waiting three hours to meet your favorite singer, and not being able to get your camera on because the battery is dead, or the memory card is full of priceless pictures you can't delete. When you are about five people away from the artists, turn you camera on, check the setting, and make sure everything is ready so you don't hold up the line by trying to figure out what is wrong with you camera!
7) It might be a good idea to print up some sheets of paper with your name and email address on them to keep in your backpack, just in case. This comes in handy if you end up having to take someone else's picture for them or if someone has to take your picture for you. It saves time of having to dig for pen and scrap paper to exchange information.
8) For those people with the fancy interchangeable lens', make sure the lens is set to auto before getting that one posed shot with an artist that you can't check before moving out of line. The person taking the picture will probably assume that it is automatic and not check the focus. It would suck if your one glorious moment was blurry because the lens got knocked around in your bag and switched to manual.
9) When you are leaving an area, double check your surroundings to make sure that nothing has fallen out of your bags. One of our staffers lost a camera lens at a fan club party because they didn't know that it had escaped. Double check yourself and be sure that you have all of your belongings when you move from one place to another.
10) You might want to label important and valuable items such as cameras or video cameras with your name and a contact number or email address in case they do get lost or left behind. Please be Good Samaritans! If you find something, do your best to find its owner. Think about how upset you would be if you lost your camera and memories of your trip that far or a sentimental piece of jewelry. We whole-heartedly believe in Karma and you will be rewarded by the Universe for doing the right thing.

ABC HOSTS ANNUAL BLOCK PARTY AT CMA MUSIC FESTIVAL IN NASHVILLE
The Party Extended to Two Days June 12-13; ABCs Wipeout Obstacle Course Added
How do you top the one-day ABC All Star Block Party, a hit at the 2008 CMA Music Festival? Simple: You make it twice as long and pack it with even more music, celebrities and activities during 2009 CMA Music Festival, June 11-14 in Nashville.
"Why not?" asked Michael Benson, Executive VP, Marketing, ABC Entertainment. "The fans enjoy it. We find a lot of benefit in it. Besides, we love our partnership with CMA and Nashville. That's why we want to do more every year, spend more time and be more involved."
"We really love including our wonderful network partner ABC in the Festival," said CMA Chief Executive Officer Tammy Genovese. "The fans really enjoy seeing the stars and attending the ABC Block Party, which has quickly become a 'must do' activity for our attendees. They know when ABC is involved they are going to have a great time."
Called "the country's premiere Country Music festival, in the country's premiere Country Music town," by the New York Times, the Festival is taped for a summer special "CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock," airing Monday, Aug. 31 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on ABC.
Scheduled for Friday and Saturday, June 12-13, the ABC Block Party, hosted by Cameron Mathison ("Ryan Lavery" on "All My Children"), promises entertainment for all ages. Held at the Hall of Fame Park (adjacent to Fifth Avenue between Broadway and Demonbreun), kids, along with more daring adults, can check out the two "Wipeout" obstacle courses. This fun-filled landscape somewhat tones down the challenges posed on the popular ABC "Wipeout" reality program, but hilarious (and painless) pratfalls, slips - in a word, wipeouts - are just as likely in this area next to the Dr Pepper-McDonald's Family Zone.
There will be plenty of music too, courtesy of the Divas of Daytime: Kathy Brier and Kassie DePaiva ("Marcie McBain" and "Blair McBain," respectively, from "One Life to Live"), and Bobbie Eakes ("Krystal Carey" on "All My Children"), who are making their Nashville debut as a trio. In addition to performing Country and Southern rock favorites at the ABC Block Party Friday and Saturday, they will perform at a Saturday breakfast show at B. B. King's Blues Club, as well as an unplugged in the Durango Acoustic Corner inside the Greased Lightning Fan Fair Hall.
The Divas will also sign autographs, sit for Q&A sessions and mingle with fans at the ABC Block Party, along with their fellow ABC Daytime stars Bree Williamson ("Jessica Brennan" on "One Life to Live"); Thorsten Kaye ("Zach Slater" on "All My Children"); and Bradford Anderson, Brandon Barash, Kimberly McCullough, Greg Vaughan, Laura Wright, and Rebecca Herbst ("Damian Spinelli," "Johnny Zacchara," "Robin Scorpio," "Lucky Spencer," "Carly Corinthos Jacks," and "Elizabeth Webber" respectively, on "General Hospital").
There will be special musical performances by several up-and-coming Country artists including Love and Theft, and Caitlin & Will (Friday, June 12) and Sarah Buxton (Saturday, June 13).
Beyond all that, the ABC Block Party will offer trivia contests (including one that pits experts on "Grey's Anatomy" against specialists in "General Hospital"), Country line-dance lessons, a photo booth where people can take away a souvenir 4X6 photo from the ABC All Star Block Party, and more. ABC-branded souvenirs will be given away, including beach towels, cowboy hats, gift baskets, sunscreen and T-shirts. As a further respite from the anticipated heat, the network will distribute free snow cones.
"It's all about making sure that visitors to the Block Party feel like they're part of the network," added Marla Provencio, Executive VP, Marketing, ABC Entertainment. "Coming to CMA Music Festival allows us to deepen our engagement with potential viewers and strengthen our relationship with current fans of our shows."
The three-hour ABC special is a primetime postcard of all the best Festival concert performances and behind-the-scenes stories with Country Music superstars. This is the fifth time ABC will broadcast this special, which invites the whole country to America's biggest Country Music bash, since the original Fan Fair was launched in 1972. Last year more than 52,000 fans a day representing every state and 26 foreign territories attended CMA Music Festival, the event's biggest turnout yet.

BE INSTRUMENTAL IN THE LIFE OF A CHILD! DONATE GENTLY USED BAND INSTRUMENTS DURING CMA MUSIC FESTIVAL
Instruments Collected by the Nashville Alliance for Public Education June 11-14 in the Dr Pepper-McDonalds Family Zone in the Hall of Fame Park
Be instrumental in the life of a child and donate your long-forgotten, gently-used band instruments to a deserving Metro music program during CMA Music Festival. The Nashville Alliance for Public Education will be collecting instruments in the free Dr Pepper-McDonalds Family Zone in the Hall of Fame Park during the Festival, Thursday through Sunday, June 11-14.
"We need your help to 'Keep the Music Playing,'" said Steve Moore, Senior Vice President of AEG Live! and President of CMA's volunteer Board of Directors. "Musical instruments that have been abandoned and locked away in attics, closets, basements, under beds, and in cabinets need to get into the hands of the kids who need them. Let them play again."
The instruments will supplement the thousands of new instruments already purchased by CMA with funds from CMA Music Festival. To date, CMA had donated more than $2 million to support music education in Metro Nashville Public Schools on behalf of the artists who perform at the Festival for free through a partnership with the Nashville Alliance known as "Keep the Music Playing."
"As artists we donate our time to the CMA Music Festival so that we're able to give back," said Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts, who is vice chair of CMA's Artist Relations Committee. "Music Education was very important in my life, and because of that, I'm able to do what I do today."
Thursday, June 11 (2:00-3:00 PM) Valory Music artist Jimmy Wayne will be on hand to help the volunteer Metro Schools band directors and music students collect instruments.
"I have always believed in the power of music," said Country star Wayne. "I got hooked as a teenager when I bought my first guitar at a yard sale, and I'm still hooked on music. That guitar helped me make a career for myself, and I want all children who love music to have the opportunity to learn to play an instrument."
The research-based evidence shows that a greater emphasis on the visual and performing arts in education is important for boosting academic performance and engaging students in the learning environment. Plus, more than 95 percent of our students who play in their school band graduate.
"Unfortunately, with a tight budget, these programs often go unfunded," Moore said. "That's why this drive with the Nashville Alliance is so critical for our schools."
As an added incentive, McDonald's is offering a coupon for a free Extra Value Meal for the first 500 donations received in the Family Zone. The Alliance will also provide forms so donors can receive tax credit for their donation. Only band instruments in good working condition will be accepted. No guitars, please.
"We're glad to be able to help the CMA with this program," said Ted Bertuca Jr., a local McDonald's owner. "Music is an important part of our public education and we applaud those who donate used instruments for these students."
"Once again, CMA has come to the rescue of music education in Metro Nashville Public Schools," said Pam Garrett, Executive Director of the Alliance. "The 'Be Instrumental' Program offers the whole community a chance to be involved with building music education in Nashville. The CMA and artists have given generously of their time, talent and resources to provide new instruments in our schools. Now they have given us all an opportunity to participate by bringing our gently-used band instruments to the Dr. Pepper-McDonald's Family Zone. These donations will mean so much to our music students and add to our growing numbers of new instruments being placed in our schools each year."
Single tickets to the individual Nightly Concerts are on sale for $40 for reserved seats on the lower and club levels, and $30 for general admission in the upper deck of LP Field (plus applicable handling fees).
Four-day ticket packages for 2009 CMA Music Festival are also available. The four-day ticket package includes the Nightly Concerts on the VAULT Concert Stage at LP Field; exclusive access to the Greased Lightning Fan Fair Hall in the Nashville Convention Center; early admittance to Riverfront Park for the Daytime Stage concerts; exclusive access to the Photo Lines at LP Field and Riverfront Park; exclusive access to the event shuttle between venues; admission to the Frist Center for the Visual Arts (June 8-15); and a registration bag, with collectible pin and 2009 souvenir program book.
This is all in addition to the free areas, which include: the Daytime Stage at Riverfront Park; Dr Pepper-McDonald's Family Zone in Hilton Park; Sommet Center Plaza Stage; Sports Zone; Fun Zone; Music City Zone in the Public Square; the Fifth Annual CMA Music Festival Kick-Off Parade; and the Fourth Annual CMA Music Festival Block Party.
To order single tickets to the individual Nightly Concerts or four-day ticket packages, call 1-800-CMA-FEST (262-3378); visit www.CMAfest.com to download an order form to fax or mail; or visit www.ticketmaster.com to buy online or charge-by-phone at 1-800-745-3000. Prices do not include applicable handling fees. Ticket prices are subject to change without notice. All sales are final and non-refundable.

RASCAL FLATTS, DARIUS RUCKER, AND WYNONNA (WITH SPECIAL APPEARANCE BY THE JUDDS) TO PERFORM AT 2009 CMA MUSIC FESTIVAL
Anticipation is building for 2009 CMA Music Festival as Rascal Flatts, Darius Rucker, and Wynonna (with a special appearance by The Judds) are added to the performance lineup for the Nightly Concerts on the VAULTTM Concert Stage at LP Field. The four-day festival takes place Thursday through Sunday, June 11-14, in Downtown Nashville.
"Rascal Flatts remains one of today's great musical entertainers and we are thrilled to have them at CMA Music Festival," said Tammy Genovese, CMA Chief Executive Officer. "We're also excited to welcome Darius Rucker to our event for the first time, and to welcome back Wynonna and Naomi. We know our attendees are going to have a fantastic time."
After winning the CMA Horizon Award in 2002, Rascal Flatts has gone on to win the CMA Vocal Group of the Year Award for six consecutive years (2003-2008). The talented trio of Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus, and Joe Don Rooney has sold nearly 20 million albums, scored 10 No.1 singles, and 18 Top 10 hits since launching their career in 2000. Their newest album Unstoppable debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart.
Country Music fans welcomed Rucker with open arms during the past year. He released his debut solo album Learn to Live, which spawned two No. 1 singles (so far): "Don't Think I Don't Think About It" and "It Won't Be Like This For Long." After touring earlier this year with Brad Paisley, Rucker will soon hit the road with Rascal Flatts. Rucker first came to prominence as the lead vocalist and songwriter for the pop group Hootie & The Blowfish, whose 1994 debut, Cracked Rear View, sold more than 16 million copies to become one of the best-selling albums in history. Rucker has found a new home in the Country format and intends to continue recording and releasing records to Country radio.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of a superstar performer with a name and a voice that is instantly recognizable around the world, Wynonna. She has sold more than 10 million albums since launching her solo career in 1992. Prior to that as a member of The Judds with her mother Naomi Judd, she sold more than 20 million albums and received nine CMA Awards. Wynonna recently released her seventh solo studio album, Sing: Chapter 1, an eclectic assortment of standards paying homage to all the different genres and songs that have formed the soundtrack to her life.

Country recording artist and World Series of Poker main event participant, Andy Griggs, will host the event, beginning at 2 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. An artist "in-the-round" jam session will follow at 5:30 p.m. A silent auction and door prize with five separate drawings will also be held.
"I'm excited about the opportunity to work with the guys at Digital Rodeo again and raise money for some really great causes," says Griggs. "I know this is going to be a great event because everybody wins - the fans get a chance to see some of their favorite celebrities interact and compete, we get a chance to play some music and some poker, and the charities get all the proceeds. It's a win-win-win situation."
Celebrity players from country music, sports, film and television, as well as professional poker players, will participate in the tournament. Confirmed attendees will be posted online at www.DigitalRodeo.com and www.AndyGriggs.com.
Griggs is the first country artist to receive sponsorship into the main event at the World Series of Poker. He outlasted every non-poker celebrity in the tournament, including his sponsor, WSOP champion Doyle Brunson. Griggs went on to register an impressive finish in the top 12 percent of the 2008 competition.
Currently, DigitalRodeo.com is featuring a weekly poker tip from Griggs on his profile page at www.DigitalRodeo.com/AndyGriggs. The clips offer advice on a variety of topics, including how to bet, gauging facial expressions, reading your cards and learning to interpret body language.

TAYLOR SWIFT, JASON ALDEAN, RODNEY ATKINS, JAMEY JOHNSON, AND JAKE OWEN ADDED TO 2009 CMA MUSIC FESTIVAL ARTIST LINEUP
The excitement continues to build for 2009 CMA Music Festival as Jason Aldean, Rodney Atkins, Jamey Johnson, Jake Owen, and Taylor Swift are added to the performance lineup for the Nightly Concerts on the VAULTTM Concert Stage at LP Field. The four-day festival takes place Thursday through Sunday, June 11-4, in Downtown Nashville.
"We are delighted to add four of Country Music's brightest stars to our incredible talent lineup," said Tammy Genovese, CMA Chief Executive Officer. "Youthful and electrifying, this group of artists bring a new level of energy and excitement to the event that cannot be beat."
Former CMA Horizon Award winner and co-host of the 2008 CMA Music Festival television special, Swift is a triple threat. The talented singer/songwriter can now add acting to her resume after appearing on an episode of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation." In addition, Swift was the biggest selling artist of 2008 in any genre of music, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Swift's career record sales now top seven million.
Two-time CMA Award nominee Aldean has sold more than two million albums and is a Music Festival favorite with his high-octane performances. His third album, Wide Open will be available April 7, while the lead single, "She's Country" is currently in the Top 10.
Another two-time CMA Award nominee, Atkins had an astonishing four No. 1 hits from his Platinum selling 2006 album, If You Are Going Through Hell. His current single, "It's America," is a Top 10 hit and his album of the same name will be available Tuesday.
A CMA Award winning songwriter in 2007, Johnson exploded on the scene as an artist in 2008 with his hit "In Color" from his critically acclaimed album That Lonesome Sound. Johnson has also had songs recorded by Trace Adkins, George Jones, and George Strait.
After debuting with a Top 10 single, Owen's sophomore album, Easy Does It, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Country Sales Chart. This will be his first "full band" performance on the VAULTTM Concert stage at LP Field as he performed an acoustic set in 2008.
These artists will perform during the Nightly Concerts on the VAULTTM Concert Stage at LP Field, along with previously announced performers Trace Adkins, Dierks Bentley, Brooks & Dunn, Julianne Hough, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Montgomery Gentry, Brad Paisley, and John Rich.

CMA, METRO GOVERNMENT AND NCVB PARTNER TO PROVIDE FREE ACCESS AND MORE MUSIC STAGES DURING 2009 CMA MUSIC FESTIVAL
Trace Adkins, Julianne Hough, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, and Reba McEntire to Perform
The leaders of the Country Music Association, the Metro Government of Nashville, and the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau assembled at the historic Metro Courthouse today to unveil exciting new plans for 2009 CMA Music Festival with the addition of a new stage on the Public Square in front of the Courthouse and free access for the first time to the concerts at Riverfront Park.
"We have always enjoyed a great relationship with the City, but this takes our partnership to a whole new level," said CMA CEO Tammy Genovese. "We are now able to offer the residents of Nashville and the surrounding communities even more opportunities to access free music, family-friendly activities, and more. CMA Music Festival is the best entertainment experience of its kind and now it can be enjoyed by more people than ever before."
"Nashville is Music City and the CMA Music Festival, which draws tens of thousands of music fans from across the world, is an important part of that identity," said Nashville Mayor Karl Dean. "With the additions to the Festival this year, this world-class event will be more accessible than ever to our local residents. I look forward to looking out the window at the Courthouse and seeing music fans from Nashville and abroad enjoying two of our city's greatest amenities - the Public Square and Riverfront Park."
"The CMA is definitely on the right track and their timing couldn't be better," said Butch Spyridon, President of the NCVB. "While they are already successful, they are looking for ways to broaden the event, extend the stay of our visitors and reach out to include the local community. MORE music and MORE value will do all of those things. Great 'free' music and more money for our schools!"
For 38 years, CMA Music Festival (which started as Fan Fair in 1972) has been an unparalleled celebration of America's music, drawing thousands of fans and media from all corners of the globe to Nashville. Dubbed the "crown jewel" of Country Music festivals by USA Today and winner of the International Entertainment Buyers Association's 2004, 2006, and 2008 LIVE! Award for Festival of the Year, CMA Music Festival will be held Thursday through Sunday, June 11-14. Nashville's signature music event features four jam-packed days of music, with concerts, autograph signings, family activities, and more throughout Downtown.
The addition of a stage at the Public Square provides residents and visitors a completely new venue to enjoy the breadth and diversity of musical styles found in Music City. Known as the Music City Zone, and programmed by the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau, the area will be free and open to the public each day.
"Adding the Music City Zone gives us a chance to showcase even more local stars and gives us an opportunity to broaden the styles of music that are readily available any day in this city," said Spyridon.
Free for the first time, CMA has waived all admission charges for the daily concerts at Riverfront Park. One of the most popular attractions at CMA Music Festival, located at the foot of Broadway on the banks of the Cumberland River, the concerts will be held from 10:00 AM-6:00 PM each day of the Festival and feature a variety of today's most popular Country performers on a single stage with longer sets.
"We feel like this is an undeniable value for everyone who loves great music," said Steve Moore, President of CMA's Board of Directors and Chairman of the Music Festival Steering Committee. "With the state of the economy, families are belt-tightening and going without. We don't want them to go without great, free family entertainment this summer. And, this is it."
CMA Music Festival is not only fun for the entire family, but beneficial to the City of Nashville. In 2008, the NCVB estimated that CMA Music Festival generated $22 million in direct visitor spending.
Each year, CMA donates half the net profits of CMA Music Festival for music education in Metro Nashville Public Schools, via the Nashville Alliance for Public Education, through the "Keep the Music Playing" program. Last week, CMA announced the 2008 donation was $1,011,294, which will buy much-needed instruments for 31 elementary, middle, and high schools. To date, CMA has donated $2,245,421 to Metro Schools to purchase instruments and supplies, and build music labs. In addition, CMA has created a $1 million endowment for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum to fund the "Words and Music" program, which assists language arts and music teachers with classroom instruction in the basics of songwriting.
Another first, residents of Middle Tennessee can support music education beyond their Music Festival ticket purchase. In 2009, the Nashville Alliance for Public Education will be collecting "gently used" band instruments during the Festival to be provided to students and music programs in need. The instruments can be dropped off daily during the Festival in the Dr Pepper?-McDonald's? Family Zone in Hilton Park.
"If you have a clarinet in the closet, or a trumpet in a trunk, dust it off and bring it to us so we can 'Keep the Music Playing' in Nashville public schools," said Pam Garrett, Executive Director of the Alliance. "One instrument can have a huge impact on the life and future of a child and your donation of a gently used band instrument can make a difference."
And as an incentive to dust off your snare drum, McDonald's is offering a free Extra Value Meal with the donation of a musical instrument for the first 500. "We're glad to be able to help the CMA with this program," said Ted Bertuca Jr., a local McDonald's owner. "Music is an important part of our public education and we applaud those who donate used instruments for these students."
Lending their talents to the cause is an exceptional lineup of artists this year including Trace Adkins, Julianne Hough, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, and Reba McEntire, with more superstar artists to be announced soon.
Surprise performances and guest appearances are a hallmark of the Nightly Concerts on the VAULT Concert Stage at LP Field, which features state-of-the-art production, giant video screens, and the fan-favorite Photo Line. And all of the excitement, screaming fans and top-notch entertainment will be filmed for a network television special on ABC. Another first this year, the special will be expanded from two hours to three to include even more high wattage performances. The special, which airs later this summer, is a primetime postcard inviting the nation to experience the music and hospitality Nashville is known for.
As the footprint of the Festival grows, so does CMA's relationships within the business community. The Festival represents the values that attract business to Middle Tennessee from entertaining clients to providing tickets as incentives for employees. For example, since 2004, HCA has purchased nearly 5,500 four-day tickets, and nearly 8,000 single night tickets as staff giveaways.
"The CMA Music Festival has given HCA the opportunity to support the arts and education while giving our employees the opportunity to participate in one of Nashville's most loved yearly events," said Jana Davis, Vice President of HCA Corporate Communications and Marketing.
"This is only the beginning of what can be accomplished when the talents of the music community combine with the limitless enthusiasm and creativity of Nashville's business and arts community," said Moore. "We invite the businesses and organizations interested in partnering with us to grow this event to get involved."
And because CMA Music Festival supports music education in Metro Nashville Public Schools, business leaders appreciate that half the proceeds go directly to the children who need it most.
"We all know the importance of music and art programs in keeping kids in school and improving graduation rates. This benefits the entire community for years to come," said Bert Mathews, President of The Mathews Company and Vice Chairman of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce.
Groups and organizations are stepping up. For example, the new Music City Drum and Bugle Corps, the flagship unit of the non-profit organization Music City Youth in the Arts, has selected "The Fifth Annual CMA Music Festival Kick-Off Parade" (June 10) to launch their program, which provides exceptional learning and performing opportunities for local students.
"It will be an honor for the corps to be part of the Kick-Off Parade, especially since the CMA Music Festival does so much to support music education in Metro Nashville Public Schools," said Keith Hall, Executive Director of the Music City Drum and Bugle Corps.
The winner of the Music City Corporate Band Challenge, presented by the Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville, will be one of the acts booked on the Public Square stage in the Music City Zone.
"What makes Nashville a truly creative community is the amazing scope and depth of artistic talent in all genres and at all levels - from visual arts to performing arts and from non-profit to commercial," said Connie Valentine, President and CEO of the Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville. "The Arts & Business Council is excited to be part of a pioneer collaboration with the CMA and CVB to expand Nashville's signature festival, by embracing Music City's broad creative community that reaches far beyond the Country Music scene."
Since it was established in 1971, Hard Rock International has been committed to a wide variety of philanthropic causes and activities around the world. Never straying too far from its roots in Music City, Hard Rock Cafe Nashville has participated in numerous charity events with key partners, most notably for the past four years with CMA Music Festival. This year, Hard Rock has put the power of its retail muscle behind a co-branded pin that will be available during the Festival to stress the importance of music education in public schools.
"Hard Rock is elated to be partnering with the Country Music Association and 'Keep the Music Playing' for its latest charitable co-branded pin," said Vilma Salinas, Sales and Marketing Manager for Hard Rock Cafe Nashville. "In alignment with Hard Rock's motto 'Love All, Serve All,' both philanthropic organizations work tirelessly to preserve Nashville's beloved 'Music City' moniker and ensure that its future continues to thrive for many years to come."
