Pitch Perfect Two

"Fit"ing In to A Popular Sequel - Chrissie Fit Talks "Pitch Perfect 2!"

By: Danae Samms

With Pitch Perfect 2 arriving September 22 on Blu-ray and DVD, Chrissie Fit, who played "Flo," sat down to talk about it. She also discussed some of her career and what sort of things she has coming up.

In the film, Fit plays the part of "Flo." She is a foreign exchange student from South America. Growing up in Miami, Florida as a Cuban American, Fit was able to draw from people she knew growing up to form the character.

“I think Flo is very smart,” Fit said. “What I love about Flo is that she’s very dark and sarcastic and always making fun of their white girl problems. And I think that was a very different kind of take on that kind of character. You can tell there is always something else going on in her brain.”

Fit began acting at a young age, and quickly grew to love it.

“I was like 12, and a guy I really liked was going to do this play and there were no more rolls,” Fit explained. “So I wrote myself in and pitched it to the teacher... The guy didn’t fall in love with me after seeing me act, but I fell in love with acting.”

With a lot of hard work, Fit kept trying towards a career in acting. Eventually she moved to LA and continued to pursue her goal.

“It took a while, but it was a lot of hard work and persistence, and I think that is really one of the biggest things you need to have. You need to believe in yourself and never give up.”

When it came time to audition for Pitch Perfect 2, Fit decided to do some of her audition lyrics in Spanish. That way she could show that she was bilingual. Fit explained that she messed up at one point, but recovered quickly. They liked it and gave her a callback.

“I had my audition, and I actually messed it up pretty bad,” Fit said. “I was really surprised they called me back. I forgot a song lyric. I was singing, and I my mom had suggested that I sing some of the lyrics in Spanish so that they knew I spoke Spanish fluently. Once I got to the Spanish part I totally blanked and forgot it. There was silence in the room, and I was like I’m going to sing a little part in Spanish, just so you know... It was a long process to just wait. Then I got a call and I had to be on a plane in two days to Baton Rouge to start rehearsing.”

Besides acting, Fit does a lot of work as a writer. She has spent time trying to make it part of her career as well, and enjoys writing stories about women for women.

“I want to add it in a little more. I was really inspired being on the Pitch Perfect 2 set. I just realized how important it is to be involved behind the camera as well. I think you have more power in a sense, and you get to dictate your own story.”
