"The Twilight Saga: New Moon" Hits Theaters on November 20! Let the Games Begin!
Back Story:
It all started with a dream. Author Stephenie Meyer fell asleep one June night and dreamt about a couple in a meadow. It was obvious the boy and girl were in love; however, they shouldn't be together. He was a vampire and she was merely a common, human, teenager. Intrigued by this vision, Stephenie would go on to pen four books about this tortured couple and their desire to be together. Unbeknownst to the first time author, that dream created a "Romeo" and "Juliet" for a new generation. We were introduced to "Bella" and "Edward" in a book called "Twilight" and thus began a love story of epic proportions.
The first book caught the attention at executives at Summit Entertainment and they made a small film of the same name. They were as unassuming as Meyer about how the world would react to their bringing the characters to life on the big screen. The movie premiere launched a world-wide phenomenon and made over-night stars of talented actors like Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson who took on the daunting task of bringing these beloved characters to life. They had no idea what they were in for.
The cast and crew are currently in production on the third installment of the saga called "Eclipse." That movie is slated for a 2010 release. Summit has also just greenlit production on the last book called "Breaking Dawn."
An obsession on this scale over books is all too rare in this day and age and has only been seen recently by the likes of a little wizard named "Harry Potter." This series has captured the attention of young and old and lingers longest with those who believe in destiny and true love. Below we fill you in on the long-awaited, much-anticipated, second film in the series.
What We Know About the Movie...
From what we can tell, it looks like the movie is going to stay pretty true to the book. The first book (Twilight), explored Bella and Edward getting to know each other and falling in love.
In the beginning of "New Moon," the dynamic duo has settled in to a fairly routine life together. (As routine as dating a vampire can get!) They go to school and hang out with friends and family. Bella is turning 18 which is a cause of stress for her because technically, Edward was bitten at 17, which means he remains that age until the end of time. Bella is now older than her eternal love and this accelerates her desire for him to change her into a vampire too.
The Cullens are insistent on throwing Bella a birthday party, complete with gifts, but things go horribly wrong when an innocent paper cut incites Jasper (the newest one in the family to forgo drinking human blood and feed only on the blood of animals) to go in for a snack. Devastated by the crystal clear perspective of the danger he is keeping Bella in; Edward gives her a quick goodbye and then disappears with the whole family in tow.
There are no words to describe the depth of devastation that Bella plunges in to when Edward leaves her. She has nightmares, doesn't eat, quits talking to her friends and is numb to the passing of time. Eventually, she begins to start to exist again and finds that when putting herself in extremely danger, she sees Edward and hears him telling her to stop. This causes her to seek dangerous activities and inadvertently brings her closer to Jacob, the family friend who has been in love with her for a long time.
Only, Jacob isn't your normal teenager either. Being a member of the Quileute Indian tribe brings a past of legend and lore about humans that can shape-shift into wolves. First dismissed as impossible, Bella begins to suspect her friend's secret. This is the girl whose boyfriend is a vampire after all.
Even with the Cullens banished from Forks (of their own accord), Bella isn't safe from vampire attacks. Victoria is still on the loose and seeking revenge against Bella because Edward killed her mate James when James was attacking Bella. Who will protect our heroine from her if the vampires are gone? Wolves perhaps?
One of Bella's stupid attempts to provoke an Edward vision causes his sister Alice to misinterpret one of her visions and she assumes that Bella is dead. She returns to Forks to help Bella's father Charlie, but finds Bella very much alive. Only word doesn't get back to Edward in time, so he seeks a way to end his own life.
Edward goes to the Volturi, a family of vampires who have been in existence for hundreds of years and govern most of the vampire population, to seek their aid in his suicide. When the Volturi, fails to comply, he decides to take matters into his own hands and plans to expose himself as a vampire in a crowded public place. The Volturi would have to punish him with death if he did this.
Alice and Bella race to Italy to try to stop Edward but Bella is only Human and must travel the ways humans do like by car and airplane. This slows them down considerably.
Can Bella and Alice make it to Edward in time? Can Jacob make Bella see that it is him she truly loves? What would the Volturi do to Bella if they found out she knew their secrets? Head to the theater on November 20 and watch every nail-biting, sigh inducing, dramatic minute unfold.

An Exclusive Interview With Peter Facinelli
Peter Facinelli:
Awesome Fans, The Power of Twitter and Landing the Role of a Lifetime That Doesn't Exactly Suck!
by: Susan J. Yeager
Peter Facinelli is relaxed and friendly, despite being interviewed in the middle of a mall where hundreds of fans (read that young and older female admirers) have waited for hours to get an autograph and/or take a picture with the good-looking actor. The chaos doesn't seem to faze the man who knows portions of the proceeds are going to raise money for charity and that these are the people who support his movies and television projects. He'll supply the one hundred and ten percent to bringing characters to life, but what good is that if no one sees all of his time and effort? He'd still be acting even if he wasn't in one of the past year's biggest cultural phenomenon (The Twilight Saga) or on one of cable's most buzzed about new television shows ("Nurse Jackie" ). After all, he's been working steadily for over 15 years, building a following and a resume that most thespians would kill for. Meeting some of the people who are affected by his work? Well, days like this are just icing on an already very delicious cake.
The acting bug actually bit Peter fairly early in life, though he didn't admit it right away. "When I was in third grade, I saw 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,' and I thought 'Those guys look like they're having fun. That's what I want to do.' That movie kind of inspired me to want to be an actor. I never really did anything about it because telling my parents that I wanted to be an actor was like telling them I wanted to go to Mars! I was first generation American. I was born in Queens. We didn't know anybody in the industry. I didn't know how to get involved or how to do it. I was also painstakingly shy."
"All through high school, I never did a play. When I got to college, I started telling my parents I was going to be a lawyer because I liked the whole courtroom drama aspect of it. Then I realized that lawyers spend most of their time trying not to go to court. So I skipped the courtroom drama and went straight for the drama. I transferred in to NYU and studied theater there. I studied hard. They taught me a lot. I can honestly say, if I didn't study acting, I wouldn't be doing what I am doing now. It's not like I was this natural-born actor. I really worked hard. I had a New York accent that was pretty thick. They cured me of that going to school. I learned a craft and then I learned to apply it. When I was 21, I started working and I've been working ever since."
"The first thing I ever did was a movie called 'Angela,' Peter recalls when asked about his first professional job. "Rebecca Miller wrote and directed it," (Rebecca is Arthur's daughter). "I played, 'Lucifer', the devil… completely unrecognizable. I was head to toe white make-up, which was kind of a preview [of what was to come]. It's all come full circle."
Several television guest spots and TV movies followed, including one called "An Unfinished Affair" where he met his wife, actress Jennie Garth. He starred in a hit teen movie called "Can't Hardly Wait" with Jennifer Love Hewitt and almost every other teen actor who was note-worthy in the late nineties. He was in the "Scorpion King" with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and guest-starred on the critically acclaimed HBO series "Six Feet Under." The cutting edge drama series he starred in on FOX called "Fastlane" proved to be a little too edgy for the network and they cancelled it prematurely after only one season.
Peter almost missed the chance to create an iconic character and be a part of a film franchise that would further fuel a world-wide obsession with a little "family" named "Cullen." "My agents called me," he begins when asked how he first heard about "Twilight." "They said, 'There's a movie being made called "Twilight." It's a vampire movie. Do you want to go up for it?' and I said, 'no.' I just thought, 'Vampire movie?' The first thing that came to mind was blood and gore and some kind of zombie, B, vampire movie. They said, 'No, it's based on a book which has got a nice following and Catherine Hardwick's directing it.' I said, "Well, I love Catherine Hardwick's work so I'd love to meet her." And they said, 'Well, your meeting is tomorrow.' I said, 'okay.' There was no script so they sent me the book. I started reading it at 5:00PM. I read it straight through till 2AM in the morning. I couldn't put it down. Fell in love with the book. Fell in love with the character. I went in and auditioned. I had one scene. I read with Catherine and I got the part."
The "part" is that of "Dr. Carlisle Cullen," the father-figure to five young vampires, in the movie version of "Twilight" and its sequel "New Moon." He is currently filming the third installment of the saga called "Eclipse" and Summit Entertainment has just greenlit pre-production on the last book of the series titled "Breaking Dawn." That book is rumored to be split in to two films which would have Peter playing "Carlisle" in five films. The character is a kind-hearted vampire who has long ago given up feeding on human blood and substitutes animal's blood to sustain himself. He and his family live in regular communities with mere mortals where he works as a doctor. When his son "Edward" falls in love with an average, teenager named "Bella" the family's secret is compromised.

Photos of the Cast Out and About
Rob Pattinson couldn't believe the difference a year makes. In 2008, he was a relative unknown whose biggest claim to fame was appearing in a "Harry Potter" movie. A little movie called "Twilight" raised Hollywood's awareness so much, Rob was asked to be a presenter at the 2009 Academy Awards, held on February 22.
The actor jumped at the chance to attend Hollywood's prestigious ceremony and ended up presenting a montage on romance with "Mamma Mia" actress Amanda Seyfreid. How fitting.

The cast celebrated 5 wins at the MTV Movie Awards, held on May 31 in Los Angeles.

It's no surprise that "Twilight" would do well at the fan-voted "Teen Choice Awards," taped on August 9 and airing the next night. Twilight won 11 awards including a surf board for Rob for "Choice Male Hottie."

New Moon Cast Descends on Nashville in November
Jackson Rathbone hosts music festival with friends and fans
As if it wasn't enough to have the biggest movie of the year hitting theaters next month, Jackson Rathbone is adding a music festival to his to-do list. Rathbone, star of New Moon (the second installment in the Twilight series), and some of his fellow cast members will be hosting the NewCon Festival in Nashville, Tennessee, November 6-8.
Jackson's band, 100 Monkeys, will be headlining the festival, which aims to inspire people to get more involved in the arts. The weekend includes Twilight- and New Moon-inspired art competitions as well as poetry and fan fiction contests. 100 Monkeys will also be part of an open jam session on Saturday, November 7. Anyone attending the festival can bring their instrument to jam with the band for two hours. The band will pick one lucky fan to join them on stage Saturday night during their concert at The Wildhorse in downtown Nashville.
"We wanted to do something different that inspires people to be creative," said Rathbone. "NewCon offers all kinds opportunities for people - whether they're writers, musicians, or artists - to share their talents in an interactive way that's fun."
Award winning artist Kelly Garrett Rathbone (Jackson's sister), will be one of the judges at the art competition and a panelist during Q&A sessions over the weekend. She currently has pieces on exhibit in galleries nationwide. The winners of the writing and art contests will get a private meet & greet with all attending New Moon cast members and have their winning pieces signed by them, as well.
100 Monkeys will also host a t-shirt design contest during the festival. The winning shirt will get printed as a limited edition and sold on the band's website, with all of the money going to the Spencer Bell Legacy Project. Spencer was a dear friend of Jackson and his bandmates who lost his battle with adrenal cancer in 2006. For more information, visit www.SpencerBellMemorial.com.
The weekend, hosted at the Renaissance Hotel & Convention Center, promises to be anything but ordinary. To make sure everyone has time to fully enjoy the festival, there are only 400 tickets available. More cast members and bands will be announced every week leading up to the event. It's Official! 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn' Gets The Green Light!
"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" production has been greenlit by Summit Entertainment and publisher Alan Baltes has the latest information.
The fourth saga in the Twilight Series is going back to it's roots and will be filmed in Portland, Oregon. The original Twilight film was shot there. In addition, a new production company, Sunswept Entertainment, has been brought on board for Breaking Dawn. Sunswept Entertainment was created by Karen Rosenfelt, who is the daughter of former MGM Chairman & CEO Frank Edward Rosenfelt. Karen Rosenfelt served as Producer on both "Twilight" and on "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse". She did not work on "New Moon", but is producing "Breaking Dawn" through her Sunswept Entertainment banner.
There will likely be quite a bit of tweaking to the fourth novel in the series due to the explicit sex and birth scenes to avoid an R rating. Inside sources confirm that Breaking Dawn may be filmed and released in two parts - "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I", and "Part II". Although this has not been confirmed officially by Summit, author Stephenie Meyer has stated, "It would have to be made into multiple movies because it's hard to imagine it fitting into ninety minutes".
Fans can expect a massive talent search for the role of Renesmee Cullen, the half-vampire, half-human daughter of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan, just as there was for the roles of Seth and Leah Clearwater in "Eclipse".
David Slade is directing "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse", but it is unknown if he will also direct any of the Breaking Dawn films. "Breaking Dawn: Part I" should start shooting in September 2010, with a release scheduled for 2011.
