"Twisted's" Season One Comes to a Shocking Close on April 1! Series' Star, Maddie Hasson, Hints at More Mysteries to Come!

ABC Family's new series "Twisted" will finish season one on April 1 after a thrilling mystery that has kept an audience on the edge of its seat. The series follows Danny Desai (Avan Jogia), a 16-year-old who has just returned to his home town after five years in juvenile detention for a crime that he may or may not have committed. Despite being the "socio," Danny tries to reconnect with his friends Jo (Maddie Hasson) and Lacey (Kylie Bunbury). Upon his return, Danny finds that Jo and Lacey are no longer friends, and at the opposite ends of the social ladder.
After a fellow student is found dead, Danny becomes a suspect and the town is turned upside down in a malstrom of accusation and mystery. Jo and Lacey must decide if they can forgive Danny, or if he is an untrustworthy criminal. We talked with series star, Maddie Hasson, to find out more about a life that's "Twisted."
"I was in Los Angeles for a month and my manager sent me the script and said, 'I think this is a really great idea for a pilot.' At the time, it was called 'Socio.'" Maddie explained how she found out about the show. "I thought it was a really sweet [show]. I thought it was really gritty, and a really interesting concept to deal with. Besides its originality I thought it was an interesting relationship between Danny, Lacey, and Jo. And that would be a really fun thing to play."
Reuniting with a childhood best friend who has been charged with murder is certainly an exciting story. But a shocking past isn't the only thrill of Twisted. We are introduced to new mysteries and surprises along the way.
"This season Jo begins in a place that happens to everybody. Things change when we're not ready for them to change, because she starts off wanting to become more of an independent woman, and independent from Danny and the issues that he brings." She explains. "But not everything happens right away because they deal with his dad coming back and his dad being alive, which brings a whole other world of problems for them. But then, here in the middle, Jo tries to go back to herself and stick to her guns. But, I think at that point these problems they have gone through together have bonded them."
The unusual story brought by the show has called for a different type of character for the actress to bring to life on the small screen. So Maddie told us what it was like to play Jo. "She is a strong character, but it's hidden behind this veil of confusion and shyness. So that was different for me to play."

While we don't want to give away any spoilers, Maddie was able to tell us this much, "You get to see Charlie at his craziest. And you're left with a huge cliff hanger that involves all the Mastersons, Danny and his family, Charlie and his family, and Rico."
